When You Need A Spey Rod (5 of 11)

Video Transcript:

Here in the Skeena River, we're using 13 1/2 foot to 14 1/2 foot spay rods for 8 and 9 weight lines. Now, we can cast just as far with a single-handed 8 weight rod or a switch rod; we can handle these fish with these rods. The reason we're using a spay rod is because we have these big heavy sink tips; we need to lift those line to the surface and be able to throw them out there and you just can't do it with a switch rod or a single handed rod; at least you can't do it very easily.
