Here in the Skeena River, we're using 13 1/2 foot to 14 1/2 foot spay rods
for 8 and 9 weight lines. Now, we can cast just as far with a single-handed
8 weight rod or a switch rod; we can handle these fish with these rods. The
reason we're using a spay rod is because we have these big heavy sink tips;
we need to lift those line to the surface and be able to throw them out
there and you just can't do it with a switch rod or a single handed rod; at
least you can't do it very easily.
