Fly Fishing Knots: Doubled Fly Line Loop Animation
The Doubled Fly Line Loop is used for making a permanent loop in either end of fly line. It's best in fly lines bigger than 7 weight as it is bulkier than a nail knot.
See detailed instructions below for each step in tying the Doubled Fly Line Loop.
- Fold over the end of the fly line until about two inches overlap. Tie a speed nail knot using fine diameter nylon monofilament 1/2 inch from the end of the loop around both pieces of the fly line(.008' to .010" diameter monofilament works best). Trim both ends of the nail knot.
- Tie a second speed nail knot in the same manner one inch from the end of the fly line loop. Trim the ends.
