How to Tie the Improved Homer Rhode Loop
2. Pass the tag end of the tippet through the eye of the hook.
3. Slowly tighten the overhand knot until it forms a figure 8. Don't tighten completely.
4. Pass the tag end through the loop of the figure 8 closest to the fly. The tag end should enter the figure 8 on the same side as th eline that leads to the fly.
5. Pass the tag end through the second loop in the figure 8 so that it exits on the same side as the standing part of the tippet.
6. Pull on the fly and the standing part of the tipper until the knot snugs down against the eye of the hook.
7. Tie an overhand knot with the tag end around the standing part of the tippet. The distance between this knot and the first knot determines the size of your loop.
8. Pull on the fly and the standing part of the tippet until the two knots snap together, forming a loop. Trim the tag ends.
