Fly Fishing Knots: Orvis Knot Video
The Orvis Knot is a very strong and easy to tie knot that works in diameters up to 30 lb.
See detailed instructions below the video:
How to Tie the Orvis Knot
2. Form a second loop, farther away from the fly, by bringing the tag end all the way around the standing part, then passing the tag end through the first loop from the far side.
3. Fold the tag end over and take 2 turns around the loop just formed (the second loop). Make sure these turns start at the far side of this second loop.
4. Lubricate the knot with saliva. Tighten the second loop against the standing part by pulling on the fly and the tag end. Then let go of the tag end and pull on the fly and the standing part until the knot snugs neatly against the eye. Trim the tag end close to the fly.
