Announcer: The speed of your retrieve can be critical when searching for
active fish. I always like to start with a fairly active or fast
retrieve to figure out how aggressive the Pike and Muskie are.
If I don't get any strikes, or even any follows, then I
dramatically slow down my retrieve and put in a lot more pauses
until I find the right combination that works. Experimentation
is the key with your retrieves. The retrieve is often more
important than the fly pattern you pick.
