11. Should I move upstream or down in small streams (11 of 15)
Video Transcript:
People always ask me, "Should I be fishing upstream or downstream?" Well, in a small stream you don't have a lot of options. The trout are facing upstream, so if you approach them from upstream there's a better chance they're gonna see you and spook so you have to stay quite away from them and make long casts. I can't really swing a wet fly downstream because the stream is too narrow. I don't get any swing.
So what I can do is I can throw a dry fly with a lot of slack or I could hang a little streamer down there and twitch it back up to me, but you're really better off working upstream in these tiny streams.
